What is breast uplift surgery?
Breast uplift otherwise known as a breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure that helps to rejuvenate dropping or sagging breasts. It can help add shape or restore breast volume and breast size, so they look more youthful.
Mr Abood performs breast lift surgery in London to remove excess breast skin and surrounding breast tissue to help contour your breasts. This procedure will also enable your breasts to sit in a higher position and create balance to your upper body.
On top of lifting the breast tissue, breast lift surgery also involves repositioning your nipple and areola. This will place both your breasts and nipples in a perkier position. It is also possible to use a breast lift to change the size of your areolas if they have become larger over time.
Why do women get breast uplift surgery in London?
There are many reasons why women consider breast uplift surgery including:
- To improve breast symmetry
- To help move your breasts and nipples to a higher position

What to expect from a breast lift consultation with Mr Abood
Having breast lift surgery is a big decision to make. That is why it is important to have all the information about what the surgery involves and what results you might expect.
Your breast lift consultation is your opportunity to discuss what you want from surgery. this might include what size or shape you would like your breasts to be. It will also give Mr Abood the chance to get to know you. He will look at your breasts as they are now, discuss any relevant medical history and medications you are taking.
Mr Abood will show you the results of previous patients who have had breast surgery. This will help to give you an idea of what you might expect. All patient results are different, so he will talk you through what you will be able to achieve from a breast uplift.
Alongside a member of his nursing team, Mr Abood will also take photographs to form part of your medical record. This will support the planning of your breast lift surgery and allow him to monitor your progress after surgery.
You will not receive any pressure to book your breast lift surgery at your consultation. In fact, Mr Abood always advises his patients to take some time to think about their decision. You can also book follow-up consultation if you do have further questions to ask.
What happens during breast lift surgery in London?
During a breast uplift procedure, you will be under general anaesthetic for around one to two hours. This will depend on how complex the surgery is and what results you are looking to achieve. The surgery is also usually a day case, which means you should be able to go home that day.
There are different ways to do a breast lift procedure. Typically, a breast uplift involves cutting around the areola and then down towards the crease of your breast.
Another possible method is to cut around your areola, down to your breast crease and then across your breast crease. This will make an anchor shape. Mr Abood will discuss which option will be best for you during your consultation.
As part of the breast lift, your surgeon will remove excess skin and breast tissue to help reshape your breasts and tighten them. The nipples will also move to a higher position and the size of the areola can also be made smaller to suit your reshaped breasts.
Some patients decide to have a breast augmentation (breast enlargement) as part of their breast uplift surgery. This will depend on the type of results you are looking for and the current position of your breasts. You can discuss this with your surgeon before moving forward.
Breast lift with breast implant surgery
At your consultation with Mr Abood, you may discuss whether having breast implants during your breast lift is right for you.
Breast lift surgery on its own is not designed to give you a larger breast size. This is why some patients decide to have a breast lift combined with a breast augmentation.
Breast implants come in different shapes and sizes. You will be able to look at the different types of breast implants at your consultation. This will give you an idea of how they will look and feel, and what size you might want to go for to achieve your desired result.
What is breast lift recovery like?
Following your breast lift surgery, Mr Abood will talk you through how the operation went and tips to take care of your new breasts. You will only leave the hospital once our team has assessed you. This ensures that you are given enough time to recover and are comfortable enough to return home.
You will set up a one week follow-up appointment so that Mr Abood can check up on your progress and you can ask any questions or concerns you might have. You can also contact Mr Abood and his team at any point during your recovery to seek advice or support.
Straight after your breast lift, you will feel slightly tender and swollen. This is normal following surgery and the team will provide you with pain relief to help manage this. The swelling should go down within the first four weeks of surgery. However, it can take longer for the swelling to completely subside.
We advise you to take it easy while your body is healing from breast lift surgery. The team will provide guidance on how to take care of your wounds and other things such as when you can start showering and how much time you will need to take off work.
For the first two weeks after surgery, you should only do low level activity. Only increasing this after your body feels comfortable to do so. You will need to wear a post-surgical bra following your operation to aid recovery.
Your follow-up appointments
You will need to attend follow-up appointments with Mr Abood during these stages of recovery:
- One week after breast surgery
- Six weeks after
- 3 months later
- One year after surgery
Will I have visible breast lift scars?
Mr Abood is an expert in performing breast uplift surgery and will do what he can to make sure you have minimal scarring.
Straight after your surgery, you will see red scars, however over the next 12 months, they will begin to fade to a light pink colour.
