Breast Reduction Consultation
The first stage of your breast reduction journey starts with a consultation with Mr. Abood. Together you will discuss your reasons for wanting the operation as well as focusing on what you’d like your end result to be. Mr. Abood will give his expert opinion on the best way to approach procedure, which will also consider the condition of your overall health. Breast Reduction Surgery
Breast reduction surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic in a fully equipped operating theatre and the surgical procedure usually takes between 2 and 3 hours. Markings are made on the breasts, indicating the placement of incision sites which go in accordance with the technique Mr. Abood intends to use.
The most commonly performed breast reduction techniques for surgical breast reduction uses an anchor type or inverted t incision, going around the outside of the areola, down to where the breast tissue meets chest wall and then hidden along the breast crease (the inframmamary crease) and breast fold. During the surgery, excess breast tissue and skin is removed and the nipples are elevated into a new position before the wounds are closed with dissolvable sutures and dressings are applied.
Mr. Abood does not routinely use drains for breast reductions which makes the recovery period easier and more comfortable. Most patients usually return home the next day, wearing a supportive bra straps while their breasts are in the healing process.
Aftercare and Results
The results of breast reduction surgery will be immediate but may take a few months (usually 6 weeks) for the breast to settle into their new size and shape. In the first few weeks you will have to take it easy as swelling, tenderness and bruising eases.
