Breast enlargement

Ahid Abood Plastic Surgery - How we can help

Breasts come in all shapes and sizes. But if you are unhappy with the way your breasts look, you might want to consider breast enlargement in Cambridge.

Also known as a breast augmentation, breast enlargement surgery involves placing breast implants under breast tissue or chest muscles. This helps to increase the size of your breasts.

Enhancing the shape or size of your breasts through breast enlargement surgery is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the UK.

Mr Abood is a highly qualified cosmetic surgeon. He is passionate about helping women achieve natural-looking results from breast augmentation surgery. He understands that women have different reasons for wanting breast surgery. This is why he provides tailored advice to each and every patient he sees.

Your care and wellbeing is our top priority. From your initial consultation through to your aftercare, you will receive support during every step of your journey.

What is breast augmentation surgery?

AA Plastic Surgery - Our Team

A breast augmentation or breast implant surgery involves inserting a silicone breast implant underneath the breast to increase their size. This also helps to give them a fuller and lifted appearance.

Breast enlargement surgery works for women who have always had small breasts. It also helps women who have breasts that have become smaller or ‘empty’ due to pregnancy or weight loss.

A breast augmentation can also help create more balance or symmetry with your breasts. The fuller and rounder appearance of your breasts following breast enlargement can have a positive effect on your self-esteem and the way you look at yourself.

What our patients think

Breast Implant Surgery in Cambridge

What are the benefits of breast enlargement and what to expect during surgery?

breast implant surgery

Benefits

You may consider a breast augmentation for the following reasons:

  •  You have naturally smaller breasts
  •  Your breasts have reduced in size after pregnancy or weight loss
  •  You want breast implants to help create a better shape and fullness to your breasts
  •  You want to correct uneven (asymmetrical) breasts by using implants

Some patients, for example after pregnancy, may choose to have breast implant surgery alongside a breast uplift. This is because of the significant changes that happen to the body during pregnancy.

What happens during breast enlargement surgery in Cambridge?

Mr Abood will carry out your breast implant surgery at The Nuffield health Hospital in Cambridge. From start to finish, your breast enlargement should take around an hour to complete.

To start with, Mr Abood will likely take photographs of your breasts and make markings on your breasts to guide him on the best place to insert your implants. It will also help indicate where incisions will need to be. This will help ensure that scarring is kept to a minimum and hidden under your normal breast crease.

During your procedure

Generally, a boob job is a day case surgery. If this is different, it will be discussed with you at your consultation. Your surgery will take place under a general anaesthetic, so you will be asleep during the operation.

The breast implants will be placed in one of three pockets in the breast:

  1.  Below the chest muscle – this is good for anyone with very little natural breast tissue
  2.  Over the chest muscle
  3.  Partial – using the ‘over-under’ technique

At your consultation, we will talk through which placement of the breast implants is best for you to achieve natural looking results. This includes the pros and cons of each so that you can make the right decision.

What are the best implants for my breast enlargement surgery?

Which are the best types of breast implants

There are two types of implants – saline breast implants and silicone breast implants. Mr Abood uses silicone gel breast implants to help create a natural look.

Silicone implants also feel more like natural breast tissue and are more durable. They also come in a range of shapes, which means that we can find the right one to suit each individual patient.

Saline implants, on the other hand, tend to feel less natural. They also come with the potential of rippling, where the sides of the breast implant are visible through the skin.

At your consultation, we will discuss in more detail about the breast implants we use. We will also walk you through the different sizes and shapes, so you can see how they will look and feel.

Booking and Consultation

Book a consultation in Cambridge at the Day Clinic

At your first consultation in Cambridge with Dr Abood, you’ll be able to discuss your reasons for considering breast enlargement and the outcome you’re hoping to achieve. With your health and medical history in mind, Dr Abood will recommend the most appropriate plan.

We want you to feel fully informed about what the procedure involves, including recovery and any potential risks. For added support, you’re welcome to bring a friend or family member to the consultation.

To plan the operation precisely, Dr Abood may take a set of clinical photographs and measurements of your breasts; all information is handled with the strictest confidentiality.

If you feel a second appointment would be helpful, Dr Abood will happily arrange one. Please take whatever time you need before making the important decision to proceed with surgery.

Aftercare and results

Mr Abood and his team of nurses always put your care and wellbeing first. Before you leave the hospital, we will walk you through what to expect during the recovery period. We will also give you some pain medication to help manage any tenderness or discomfort you may experience.

We don’t advise wearing a normal bra or sports bra after your surgery. This is why we give you a post-surgical bra that will help support your breasts and your recovery.

You will need to attend a follow up appointment a week after your surgery to take a look at your progress. Further appointments will include:

  • At six weeks post-surgery
  • Three months after your surgery
  • After one year

Outside of these follow-up appointments, you can contact Mr Abood and his team at any point should you need to ask any questions.

It will take time for the swelling to subside and for your breast augmentation results to show. You will likely see your final results six months after your operation when the implants have settled into place.
