About Dr Ahid Abood
Dr Ahid Abood has private clinics in both Cambridge and London Harley Street. His first-rate quality of care and skilful results attract patients from all over the UK and beyond.
Having studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, Dr Abood completed his medical training at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. He has since accomplished several prestigious fellowships in the UK, Australia and the US, during which time he learned advanced techniques in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery and trained in sub-specialties, such as skin cancer.
Dr Abood is now a lead consultant for the NHS in his role as Clinical Lead for Major Trauma Reconstruction to the East of England. Breast Augmentation Cambridge
Breast augmentation is one of our most popular surgical procedures at AA Plastic Surgery. The procedure uses silicone implants to enlarge the breasts, increasing their volume and making them appear more youthful.
Reasons that people might seek breast augmentation include having breasts that are naturally smaller compared to most women, or losing volume in the breasts after weight loss or pregnancy.
Feeling that your breasts are too small, saggy or asymmetric can damage self-confidence. This surgical procedure can balance the proportions of the body, leaving you feeling empowered in the way you look.
The Consultation
Dr Abood undertakes detailed consultations with his clients before advising on the best course of action to achieve their desired results. You will be offered at least two consultations prior to surgery, so that you have enough time to reflect upon the information you receive and make your final decision.
During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to discuss in depth your motivation and hopes for breast augmentation, as well as voicing any concerns that you may have.
We want you to know what to expect from the breast augmentation procedure. You will have the chance to examine the types of breast implant used by Dr Abood, so that you can get an idea of the size and shape that you would like to achieve and understand what will be put into your body.
The Procedure
Breast augmentation surgery typically lasts one hour. During the procedure you will be put under general anaesthesia, meaning that you will not be conscious.
To help guide Dr Abood in the surgery, he will need to take photographs and mark your breasts with pen so that he knows where to make incisions and place the implants. The placement of the incisions is designed to minimise and conceal scarring, and is something that you can agree on during your consultation.
In your consultation, you can also decide which ‘pocket’ of the breast you would like the implant to be placed in: below the muscle, over the muscle, or by using a partial ‘over-under’ technique.
Recovery and Results
Recovery will take between 6 to 8 weeks. In some regards, this is the most important part of the process, and we view aftercare as a priority.
After the procedure, Dr Abood and his nursing team will make sure you are comfortable and happy before you go home.
In most cases, patients report that the level of discomfort they experience from surgery is significantly less than they were expecting. We will give you the appropriate pain relief medication to manage the tenderness that you do experience, as well as a post-surgical bra that will increase your comfort levels in the initial period after surgery.
We will also supply you with clear instructions regarding aftercare, though Dr Abood and his team will be available at any time should you need to ask questions or come and see them.
The results of breast augmentation will develop fully over 6 months as swelling decreases and the implants settle into place.
One week after surgery, you will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment with Dr Abood. You will then have further check-ins at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year post procedure, to monitor the progress of your recovery.
Risks
Every breast augmentation procedure is designed to minimise risks, but as with any surgical procedure, risks will remain. There are far fewer risks associated with breast augmentation than people are led to believe. There are some horror stories in the media about silicone implants, and Dr Abood can discuss any concerns you have about this in the consultation and give you some reading material to consider.

Directions to AA Plastic Surgery, Cambridge
From the main railway station in Cambridge, travel north, out of the city centre and across the River Cam. Travel through the districts of Chesterton and King’s Hedges and at the A14 roundabout by Orchard’s Park, take the exit onto Bridge Road. Continue north on Bridge Road; just past Histon Football Club, turn right onto New Road. Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital can be seen on the right, after Histon and Impington Recreation Ground and opposite Histon Police Station.
If you are travelling from Cambridge Airport, go north on the A1134/Barnwell Rd. At the roundabout by McDonald’s Cambridge, take the third exit onto Newmarket Rd. Turn left onto Ditton Lane/B1407. If you pass Cambridge City Cemetery, you have gone too far. Follow the B1407 until it merges with the A14, then travel west on the A14. At the roundabout by Orchard Park, take the third exit onto Bridge Road. After Histon Football Club, turn immediately right onto New Road. Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital is located to your right, past Histon and Impington Recreation Ground and opposite Histon Police Station.
