What our patients think

Harley Street Breast Augmentation

What to Expect from Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed surgeries at Dr Abood’s clinic on London’s Harley Street.

Many women choose to enlarge their breasts if they have undergone physical changes due to weight loss or pregnancy. Others may have always struggled with having naturally small or asymmetric breasts.

A lack of self-esteem can develop from feeling self-conscious about appearance, which has negative impacts on other areas of life.

Breast augmentation can produce a well-proportioned body that you feel more confident in by using silicone implants to add volume to the breasts, giving them a fuller and symmetrical shape.

The decision to have breast augmentation surgery is a significant one, and we will be here to support you every step of the way.

The consultation phase with Dr Abood at his Harley Street practice is very thorough, as he likes to spend time getting to know his clients and their reasons for seeking surgery. This time is also in place for you to learn more about Dr Abood and find out the answers to any questions you may have.

You will be offered at least two no-obligation consultations, though you may request more if you still feel unsure about going forward. Dr Abood wants you to take the time you need to make your choice.

Dr Abood can advise on whether breast augmentation is the best course of action to achieve your desired results.

To ensure that you know everything to expect from the procedure, you will have the opportunity to examine the types of breast implants used at our Harley Street practice. You can also discuss the ‘pocket’ of the breast that you would like the implants to be inserted into.

The Procedure for Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthesia, which will put you to sleep. Dr Abood  has worked with the same expert anaesthetist for many years and they will look after you while under anaesthetic.

The procedure usually lasts one hour, but before the surgery commences, Dr Abood will make markings on your breasts that will help to guide optimal placement of incisions and implant placement. He will do this by drawing on your breasts with a skin marker and taking photographs to guide him in the surgery.

All incisions will be made strategically so that scarring is concealed and minimised.

Breast Augmentation Aftercare and Results

After the procedure, Dr Abood will give you a run-through of how the surgery went and ensure that you are comfortable before sending you home. You will be given appropriate pain relief medication and a post-surgical bra to aid in your recovery.

Aftercare is a vital part of the breast augmentation process. It is important to follow the aftercare instructions given to you in order to get the best possible results.

Recovery from breast augmentation takes between 6 to 8 weeks. If at any point you feel that you need more support, Dr Abood and his team will be available to speak to you, whether by phone or face-to-face.

You will be booked in for a follow-up appointment one week after surgery, with others scheduled for 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year post-procedure. Your recovery will be monitored closely so that we can be confident you are healing properly.

The full results of breast augmentation will be seen after 6 months, when the swelling has gone down and the implants have settled into place.

Risks

Every surgical procedure will always carry a degree of risk

There is an inherent risk associated with every type of surgery, but the risks that breast augmentation carries are very low. During consultation at his Harley Street practice, Dr Abood will go over the potential risks and provide you with information that you can review in your own time.

About Harley Street in London

Ahid Abood Plastic Surgery - Contact

Located in Marylebone, Central London, Harley Street has been known for its private specialists in medicine and surgery since the 19th century. Its namesake, Thomas Harley, was the Lord Mayor of London in 1767.

The reason for Harley Street’s population of medical specialists is not fully understood, but it is likely that doctors were attracted to the area by its development of sizeable housing and proximity to the central railway stations of Paddington, King’s Cross, St Pancras, Euston and, later, Marylebone.

Notable occupants of Harley Street in the past include, not extensively, the speech therapist who coached King George VI to overcome his stammer, Lionel Logue, and Sir Morell Mackenzie, who is dubbed the ‘Father of British Laryngology’.
